The Microsoft Azure Storage services provide a highly scalable, highly available and cost effective means of storing data in the cloud.
This demo intensive session will focus on the use of Microsoft Azure Storage services to host the high score tables, telemetry data and driver replay data for a 3D racing game. With popular games having millions of players, the need for a scalable and cost effective solution for data storage and processing is critical. For hobby developers using the services can result in usage bills of fractions of kronor per month.
Azure Table Storage will be used for storing high score tables and telemetry data, with detailed coverage of the use of partition and row keys to provide optimized queries at scale. Blob storage will be used for driver replay data, allowing players to compete against ghost cars of their friends.
The session will provide an insight into leveraging the power of cloud-based storage services for high scale scenarios. The techniques demonstrated will be applicable to many scenarios, from multi-player gaming to web data and media storage, to device telemetry and the internet of things.
